Squawkes

She gets it

Abby and I stopped to browse in the baby department at Target today. I found a couple of cute little boy outfits. [An aside: People always say boys clothes aren't as cute as girls clothes, but I don't agree. You just have to look a bit harder to find them.] My helpful Abby pulled several pink, sparkly, flowery things off the racks, and brought them to me (one at a time), saying, “This is for my little brother!” How cute is that?! I love being a Mom!

Abby-isms

Pic 1: So the other day, we went to the park (this is Abby in the outfit she picked out). On the way home, she wrapped her jacket around her head, so she couldn’t see and had to stop to keep from tripping. I asked what she was doing. She said, “I’m hiding from the sun.”

Pic 2: I left Abby alone for 2 minutes with her watercolor paints. When I came back, she looked up at me (with green hands, lips, and tongue) and says, “Mommy, I don’t eat paint.” Of course.

“I’m holding the Mountain on my hand”

We went hiking this weekend in the Superstition mountains. This is what Abby said, as she was throwing rocks on one of our hiking breaks. I love how well she can express herself.

Abby’s favorite part was riding in the backpack. My favorite part was the weather. =)

Mischief Makers

Pic 1: Abby is a great helper, and especially loves helping me bake. Here she is, enjoying the fruits (or chocolate) of our labors.

Pic 2: Two of my mischief makers, taking a break from making mischief.

Pic 3: I’ve learned that if I leave Abby alone for any length of time, she finds something to do on her own. This “something” was applying copious amounts of lotion…to her hair.

Pic 4: Abby and Martie, her best little girl friend, at the Phoenix Zoo.

Puddle Jumper

It rained last night. The clouds have lingered overhead all day. Abby insisted on taking her umbrella for a walk – look at the smile on her face! She had a GREAT time splashing in every puddle we encountered. Good day!

December

We had a fun-filled December.

Pics 1 & 2: My sister, Jill, came to visit at the beginning of the month. We went to the zoo, painted our toenails (Abby’s were purple, she LOVED them), and generally had a good time. Thanks, Jill, for visiting us!

Pics 3 & 4: Abby learned a few new tricks: how to make a “funny face” (her daddy taught her this), and how to lap up water with her tongue (just like the dogs do).

Pics 5 & 6: BaNoi and I took the Hawkes grandkids (minus Two) to the zoo. It was crazy, and very fun! We all came home tired.

PIc 7: Abby and Anya, with “Who” hairdos

PIc 8: BaNoi turned on a movie for the kids during the Hawkes/Overton family Christmas Eve party. Aren’t they a handsome bunch?!

Pics 9 & 10: The first present Abby opened was a train from Nana and Grandpa. She ripped the wrapping paper enough to see the corner of the box and exclaimed, “A box!!!” She was almost as excited to discover there was a train inside. She likes the new bike she got from BaNoi and OngNoi.

PIc 11: These two had so much fun together. We were very sad to see Anya (and her family) leave.

Way behind

I know I haven’t posted for a very, very long time. Lets just say that first trimester pregnancy + giardia = really bad time.

Cravings

It’s 11:30 p.m. I’m craving Ramen noodles; have been all week. I stocked the pantry earlier this week, but we ran out (because I ate them all). I HAVE to have them, tonight…now! Nothing else will satisfy. My sweet husband just ran to the store to get me some. =) Thanks, honey!!
