Going Bananas

Abby says banana (ma-na) now; and if she sees one, she thinks she has to eat it. That kid can really pack it in–she eats almost as much as I do! So, I guess it makes sense that she loves the “play” fruit I gave her. =)

We had to take Lodi to the Vet this week because he chewed up his tail. I don’t know what went on in his mind that caused him to inflict such harm on himself (to be honest, I don’t think I’d care to know). We came home with oral antibiotics, an antibacterial spray, and a cone to prevent Lodi from causing any more damage to his mutilated tail. Fortunately, he is doing much better after only a few days of treatment. Unfortunately, he looks really goofy in his cone.

And she’s off…

Abby walks very well now. She either walks with her hands out in front of her (like she’s trying to stop traffic), or she carries something around with her (I think it helps her feel more steady on her feet). A few days ago, she was walking around and brushing her hair at the same time. Pretty good, eh?

What’s a doga?

Funny stories from last week:

Abby LOVES the dogs. For the past 2 weeks, she has been walking around the house pointing at them and saying “dog,” with great emphasis on the “g,” so it sounds like do-ga. It is really, really cute!!

Last week, as I was folding laundry, I looked up to see Abby trying to put a pair of socks on her feet.

Last Beach Trip

One of our last days in California was spent at Oceanside beach with Irene, Melanie, Josh, and Randi-Sue. We had a great time! Abby looked so cool in her shades!

She’s little, but happy

Abby had her 12 month wellness checkup today (yes, I know she’s 13 months). She is 16 lbs 7.6 oz–which puts her in the 3rd percentile for weight (she eats like a horse, though, so the doctor wasn’t worried)–and she is 29 inches long (40th percentile). So the doctor confirmed it: she’s tall and skinny, like her daddy. =)

Labor Day

We spent Labor Day swimming and BBQing and enjoying good company. Abby loves the water.

The California Relatives

Over the weekend, we also visited Jake’s Uncle Barry (who, for some reason we didn’t get pictures with), Grandma Lee, and the Miles’. Abby loves her California relatives (and so do we)!

A beautiful day

We had a really nice weekend. We went to the Huntington Library, near Pasadena, and enjoyed the gardens and museums. We had a lovely visit with Aunt Mary. Then we went out to eat with one of my college roommates, Lauren, and her family. It was delightful visiting people and places we haven’t seen for a while.

I sometimes forget how impressionable Abby is; but am regularly reminded by her. I had to laugh out loud when she stuck my earbuds in her ears.
